He has had two hits on the Billboard charts. His eponymous album "Rubby Pérez" spent two weeks on the Tropical chart, peaking at #15, and his song "Enamorado de ella" was #29 on the Latin Charts, and the same along with Zulian Omar Enrique. He has been the winner of awards, such as the Casandra Awards in the Dominican Republic, in which he has won the categories "Orchestra of the Year" and "Merengue of the Year". In Venezuela he won gold and platinum records in 1988 with his first solo album. It also received two Globo Awards for "Best Song" and "Album of the Year". Rubby Pérez was recognized by the Committee of Latin American Political Parties in the United States (COPOLA USA) for his help to the victims of the earthquake that affected Haiti in 2010

Roberto Antonio Pérez Herrera (Haina, March 8, 1956), known as Rubby Pérez, is a Dominican merengue singer, known as "The Highest Voice of Merengue".

Pérez, who pretended to be a baseball player, saw his dreams dashed due to a car accident that caused damage to his left leg; but it was not all disappointment, since his younger brother Neifi entered the Major Leagues shortly after.

After studying music at the Santo Domingo National Conservatory, he took his first steps as a member of the groups: Coro de la Sociedad de Orientación Juvenil, Los Juveniles de Baní in 1978, and Los Hijos del Rey. Pérez made himself felt after he joined the Wilfrido Vargas orchestra during the early 1980s (1982-1987), where he had the honor of popularizing hits such as "El Africano", "Volveré", "Las Avispas", "When you're with him", "Coward, Coward", among others.

His foray as a soloist in 1987 brought hits like "Buscando tus Besos" in collaboration with Álex Bueno, "Give me poison", "In love with her", "Make me forget her", "Sobreviviré", "Tú vas a volar", "Hipocresía" , "The alien dog", "They will never love you like this", "Silly heart", among others.
